Welcome

We are now consulting on our early plans for North Weald Data Centre, a proposed new data centre located to the east of North Weald Airfield.

We are currently at a very early stage in preparing our plans for North Weald Data Centre. The feedback we receive will help to shape our proposals while they are still being developed.

Our consultation is running from Tuesday 9 July 2024. All of the consultation information can be found here on our website, where you can find out more about the project , share your feedback and get in touch with the project team.

What is North Weald Data Centre?

North Weald Data Centre is a proposed new data centre that, if consented, would be constructed, owned and operated by Google. North Weald Data Centre is proposed on land to the east of North Weald Airfield, which has been allocated for employment uses within the Epping Forest Local Plan.

A data centre is a facility with lots of computers that store and process large amounts of information. Every Google search you do is processed by servers in Google data centres. Google data centres enable our users to run their activities on top of keeping all of Google’s products and services up and running around the world.
